Campfire Devotions #5

Matthew 7:15-20

15“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

Jesus knew that we would be plagued with all kinds of people that will try to talk us into doing evil deeds. There are many different ways that people approach us now; social media, emails, television, movies, books, etc. As Christians we need to be strong in our faith and not let the evil one into our thoughts and hearts. We need to study God's word and commandments to better arm ourselves in this battle. Yes, it is a battle! It is a battle that many struggle with everyday. As true Christians we need to understand that it is our responsibility to help each other and to keep our eyes on the eternal prize. We can do this through fellowship with one another, studying God's word together, putting Christ in the front of our lives, and being there for our brothers and sisters.

Remember we are God's children, it is our purpose to praise him and share his word.
