John 2:1-5
On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, 2 and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.” 4 “Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
We have all heard of Jesus's first miracle of turning water into wine. But when we look at it closely this is not just a miracle of changing the water into wine but also a pure form of belief and obedience.
Belief
Mary knew who Jesus was and wholeheartedly believed that her son was the Messiah. She knew through teachings that the Messiah would come to save the world and believed that he could do anything being the Son of God. She instructed the servants to "Do whatever he tells you" before Jesus even said he would do anything. This was done because of the faith Mary had in Jesus.
Obedience
Jesus said to his mother, Mary "My hour has not yet come." I believe he said this because it was not time to start performing his miracles on the earth. But Jesus also upheld the 10 Commandments at all time and never sinned. One of the 10 Commandments is to Honor your Father and Mother.
This miracle started the miraculous work of Jesus in his life, and it began by honoring his mother's request. Today with TV, cell phones, friends, and the internet the youth of the world has a lot of distractions in front of them.
As parents we need to speak openly with our children and raise them in a Godly environment filled with patience, love, and hope. We need to encourage them in making the right choices to be closer to God. We can do this by believing in our children and raising them to be strong Christian leaders.
Children please be obedient to your parents. Listen to what they have to say, sometimes you may not think they are correct but they are trying to protect you. Talk to your parents, discuss issues or problems with them. Your parents love you unconditionally and want you to succeed in your life.
